Foster parents are required to complete a Pre-Placement training program prior to placement of licensure. This training is available on-line and takes about 6 hours to complete. Following that, the Foster Care Coordinator meets with new foster parents to review the training and provide other information as to Sheboygan County procedures. Following licensing, foster parents attend Foundation Training which covers 9 topic areas pertaining to foster care. This training, a total of 30 hours, is offered virtually. This training must be completed during the initial licensing period (2 years), so that you are truly prepared to foster. Following that initial period, 10 hours of training are required annually. Training hours can be earned through a variety of methods.
