Annual Shop with a Cop

If you have questions or know someone who should be referred to the program please speak to representatives at the below listed agencies.

We are looking forward to this event again this year and plan to take about 60 children Christmas shopping and to the pizza party. We do require that the families are not referred if they have taken part in the past.

The following agencies may refer children to this program: Big Brother’s / Sister’s of Sheboygan, St. Vincent Depaul Society, The Salvation Army, Department of Health and Human Services of Sheboygan Co, Rainbow Kids, Sheboygan County Public Health, Safe Harbor, Lutheran Social Services, The Catholic Charities Assoc. of Sheboygan, and Attic Correctional Services, Head Start of Sheboygan County, Children with Cancer Society. The Schools for Referral this year will be Sheboygan Lutheran Schools, Christian, and Kohler.

Each year for the part 20 years on a cool December evening, the Christmas spirit emanates from a group of law enforcement officers, a group of very special children and their families as they gather to share in the spirit of giving. Giving of themselves and gifts of the season.

"Shop with a Cop" is a charitable program developed, organized and funded voluntarily by members of the Sheboygan County Law Enforcement Association (S.C.L.E.A).

Each year underprivileged children, who are referred to the program by social agencies gather together with S.C.L.E.A. members for a pizza party, to meet Santa Claus and to do their Christmas shopping with a uniformed officer. The children are allowed to purchase whatever they choose. Often their choices involve giving to others. This means gifts for parents and siblings or a winter coat or boots the family could not otherwise afford, and of course toys.

The members of the S.C.L.E.A. are privileged every year to meet these children and their families and to interact with them on this special occasion. For us it's an opportunity to make a positive impact on our young community and to remind ourselves what the season is all about giving.

It is an awesome experience to witness and reinforce the giving spirit of a child. Please consider making a monetary or product donation in support of "Shop with a Cop" and the children that we serve.
